Summary: Soma and Agni enjoy a simple breakfast of oatmeal porridge…

Soma watched as Agni assembled the ingredients to make some English breakfast porridge. The prince was surprised to learn that the hearty dish that he loved on cold wintery mornings was nothing more than oatmeal boiled in water with a bit of salt added. The other ingredients, cream and the sweet honey from the beekeeper’s stall in the marketplace, were added afterwards.
Agni set the pot of water on the stove and when it started boiling, he sprinkled the oatmeal in, while stirring it vigorously. Soma laughed as he found it very funny, until Agni said, “Try mixing it, my prince.” Only then did the prince realize how hard it was to keep it from getting get lumpy. After a few minutes, the heat was turned down low to let it simmer.
Soma couldn’t wait for breakfast. Sticking his finger in the honey pot, the prince pulled it out. He licked the sticky amber droplets, savoring the sweet taste, and was about to do it again, when Agni gave him a look. Sighing softly, the prince decided it would be better if he waited for the porridge to be ready in the front parlor.
Agni found Soma, sitting in the front window, watching the people go by on the busy London street just beyond the gate, a half hour later. With a soft, “come, my prince,” he turned and led him back towards the kitchen, where they shared their meals. The dinning room “feeling cold and empty without Ciel” according to Soma, who suggested they eat from now on in the kitchen when it was just the two of them. They enjoyed their breakfast.
Soma said, “This is the best porridge I’ve ever had, Agni.”
Agni smiled. “That’s because you helped make it, my prince.”
Soma sipped his tea. “Yeah.”
