Title: Remembering Old Fritz
Characters:Prussia, Germany
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: OT for drinking
Summary: Prussia remembers the anniversary of Old Fritz’ passing by getting drunk with his brother, Germany…

It happened every year at this time. It was the anniversary of Old Fritz’s death and even after all these centuries, it still affected Prussia as if it had happened only yesterday. He would drink until he was falling down drunk while he mourned the loss of his beloved boss, with the promise of a massive hangover to come in the morning when he woke up.

Prussia usually spent the time alone, but this year, he gained a fellow mourner in the form of his brother, Germany. They spent the day at home, commemorating the death of a great man, by drinking their way through their stash of home brewed beer. The fact that it was enough for both of them to get shit-faced was a testament to their skill as a brew-meisters, not to mention their “the more, the merrier” attitude when it came to producing the stuff.

“He was a great man, kleine Brüder…” Prussia hiccupped, his eyes bright with unshed tears.

“I know, you been telling me about him for the past hour or so,” Germany reminded with a level of seriousness that only the extremely drunk could achieve.

“I loved that man…” Prussia’s voice hitched with emotion.

Germany nodded, instantly regretting it when the room began to spin.

“He was the best at everything!”

Raising his beer bottle in the air, Germany said, “To Old Fritz!”

“Yes!!” Prussia raised his own bottle, and closing an eye he somehow managed to clink it against his brother’s.

They drank. Things continued in much the same fashion until they passed out amidst the empty bottles. In the cold light of morning, the old familiar pain behind his eyes, his bursting head, and nausea were a fitting reminder of how he had felt when Old Fritz had died.

Title:There’s Always Room For One More
Characters: Greece, Japan
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: PG
Summary: Heracles and his life-partner Kiku exchange anniversary gifts…
Author’s note: Please note that this is an AU, where they’re human, rather than the personification of their respective countries. Thanks to Kat too, for helping me with a title!

Heracles held the little tabby kitten close. He thought she would make the perfect anniversary gift for his beloved Kiku. They both loved cats and had bonded over a litter of kittens that had been born at the shelter they both volunteered in. As those kittens grew, their friendship blossomed. Now, they were life-partners, who shared a small apartment near the university where Heracles taught history with their three cats and the new kitten.

Setting the kitten down on the floor, he said as he watched her scamper off over to the large tuxedo tom, they called Sylvester, “Promise me you’ll behave this time, little one.” Heracles sighed softly when she pounced on Sylvester’s tail. Instead of the cat fight he feared would happen, Sylvester opened a sleepy eye at her and promptly ignored her antics. It was not long before the two were peacefully dozing in the warm sunlight that streamed in from the window.

Heading into the kitchen, Heracles was greeted by Minky, their little sable Tonkinese. Meowing loudly, she rubbed against his legs in greeting. He smiled down at her. “Did you lose your catnip mouse again?”

“Meow…” Minky rubbed against his legs again.

“Sorry, but I’ve already fed you,” Heracles said. Puttering around the kitchen, he set to work making their anniversary dinner. By the time he was finished, Kiku was home from work. Picking up the kitten, he hurried to greet his life-partner, Sylvester, Minky, and a dainty white Angora named Cleopatra close on his heels.

Kiku held something close to his chest in the same manner as Heracles when they greeted each other with a kiss to the cheek. “Happy anniversary,” they chorused, before erupting in laughter as they each held out their gifts. Instead of one kitten, their household had gained two…

Title: Let’s Celebrate!
Characters: France, England, mention of Prussia and Spain
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: OT for drinking, England’s potty mouth, & France’s innuendo
Summary: France wants to celebrate their “anniversary,” but England wants no part of it…
Author’s note: Thanks to Kat for kick starting this one for me!
For Jen, who asked for some FrUK…

“Happy anniversary, mon chéri!” France said as he sat down next to England.

“Happy anniversary?! What the blazes are you talking about, you stupid git?!” England stared at him like he had three heads.

France chuckled. “How soon we forget, eh? It’s been what? Centuries?”

England sputtered wordlessly.

“Ah, mon chéri, how the time passes quickly when one is in… ” he smiled as he waggled his eyebrows at him, “love…”

“LOVE?! What the bloody hell’s the matter with you?! I can’t stand you, you bloody half-wit!” England got up in France’s face.

France sighed. “It’s love alright.”

“Go fuck yourself!” England promptly ignored him and went back to drinking his pint. “Stupid wanker,” he muttered softly.

“I told Spain and Prussia, but they didn’t believe me… well Spain did, I could see it in his eyes.” France leaned on him.

“Bugger off, you pissed-faced frog!

“Mon chéri, my feelings are hurt! Let’s kiss and make up, and celebrate the fact that I haven’t killed you yet.” France planted a big wet one on England’s cheek. “I promise you, it’ll be an anniversary to end all anniversaries!”

“Leave me alone, you daft bugger! You’re just lucky I haven’t killed you first!”

“Now, now, let’s not lose our temper! An anniversary such as this should be celebrated with love! And champagne, and chocolates, and a dozen red roses! And then while the night is still young, we should make love until the sun comes up, no?”

England looked at him like he was mad, the coloring rising in his cheeks as he tried to get a firm grip on his temper. “NO!!”

France pouted. “Oh well, your loss is my gain!”

“What?!”

“Now I’ll have to share my love with someone else… adieu!” France turned and left.

“Goodbye! And good riddance!”

Title: Solid White Albacore
Characters:Japan cat, Greece cat, mention of Russia cat, Germany cat & Italy cat
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: PG
Summary: Japan cat remembers the anniversary of the time he sold himself to Greece cat for a can of tuna…
Author’s notes: Based on an idea for a fic my friend Kat was thinking of writing. She also came up with the title.
For Kat…

Japan cat sat, licking his paw and washing his face with it. Today was the anniversary of the day he had sold himself to Greece cat for a can of tuna. He had a new can of the stuff, that sat by his side, while he waited for his friend to show up. Earlier, he had quite the scuffle with Russia cat over it, but in the end, he had won thanks to his friends, Germany cat and Italy cat. It was also fortunate that Italy cat had freaked out over the fight and Germany cat had to go after him, otherwise, Japan cat would have had to honor his promise of sharing the tuna with the big grey tom and his sweet little brown spotted sidekick. Their loss was Japan cat’s gain, which meant it was ultimately Greece cat’s gain, since Japan cat wanted to give him the can of tuna as an anniversary gift.

It was not long before Greece cat showed up. He sauntered over to Japan cat, who was overjoyed to see him. Purring softly, they rubbed up against each other in greeting, before sitting down to a mutual grooming session. It was after that, that Japan cat pushed the can of tuna towards his friend. “Happy Anniversary,” he meowed.

Greece cat gave him a sleepy, yet quizzical, look. “Anniversary?”

“Yes. It has been exactly three months since I umm…” Japan cat looked away and back, “Since that time I sold myself to you for that yummy, delicious can of tuna.”

“Oh…” Greece cat blinked, and stifling a yawn, he curled up in a warm patch of sunlight. “Thank you, I guess?” He purred as he closed is eyes.

Japan cat nodded. “You’re welcome.” He curled up next to his friend and went to sleep…

Title: Anniversary Surprise
Characters: Roma, Germania, Ancient Greece, mention of Ancient Egypt & the OC Nubia
Challenge: September 2012 Anniversary
Bonus Words: promise, loss, gain, time
Rating: PG13 for implied naughtiness.
Summary: Roma and Germania get together with Greece for what turns out to be their anniversary and Greece decides that calls for a celebration…
Author’s note: Thanks to Jen, who came up with the title for this…

“Happy Anniversary, boys!” Greece said as she greeted Roma and Germania with a kiss on the cheek.

Germania raised an eyebrow as he slowly turned his head to look at his friend.

Roma was equally perplexed. “Anniversary?”

Greece giggled. “Yes. It’s been a year to the day that we’ve been together. Don’t you remember? I know it’s a long time ago, but we’d promised that we would have a little celebration if we managed to stay together for a year.” She looked at Roma, “And don’t think I don’t know about you having Egypt on the side.”

“But, my sweet-” he started, hoping to placate her.

“But nothing,” she finished. “I don’t want to think about that loser and her sister Nubia; I just want to think about you,” Greece purred seductively. She honestly did not give a damn about those two, but if Roma thought she did, then all the better. Her two favorite lovers were here and she was not about to waste any more time outside her bedroom than she had to.

Roma smiled, and thinking he had gained the upper hand simply by being his charming self, he leaned in and kissed her. “You know, it’s you I love the best.”

Greece laughed. “Oh, you sweet, wonderful liar! That’s your love,” she said looking over at Germania.

Germania snorted.

“No, she’s right. You’re my best friend, Germania,” Roma affirmed when he realized she was right. He slung his arm around him.

Germania rolled his eyes. “Whatever,” he deadpanned.

“So let the celebration begin, boys!” Greece said as she led them to her bedroom for a night they would never forget...
