Summary: Sweden and Finland spend an afternoon skating…
For azurecerulean …
Sweden and Finland walked over to the lake, ice-skates slung over their shoulders. Grabbing a big stick, Sweden walked over to the edge of it and tapped the ice. He wanted to be sure the ice was thick enough before they went skating. Satisfied that it was, he nodded at Finland, who was sitting on a log bench.
Finland smiled and began taking his boots off as Sweden approached. Taking a seat next to his beloved wife, Sweden began mirroring his actions. “It’s nice and hard,” he said softly as he laced up his skate.
“Is it now?” Finland said, and unable to contain it any longer, he chuckled. “That’s what you said last night.”
“So I did,” Sweden replied, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Finland laughed. Getting up, he carefully made his way onto the lake’s frozen surface. He glided across the ice, making slow lazy circles, while he waited for Sweden to join him. “Hey, Sve.”
“What?” Sweden joined him on the ice.
“We should spend a week at the ice hotel before it melts.”
“Sounds good to me.” Sweden skated alongside his beloved “wife.”
“And maybe visit some of the Laplanders?”
Sweden nodded. “We can get a ride on a reindeer sleigh too if you want.”
Finland skated ahead, gracefully turning so that he was skating backwards. “I’d love that! Remember all the fun we had last time we did that?” He smiled.
Sweden grinned. “Yeah… I also remember all the fun we had at the Ice Hotel.” His grin softened into a warm smile. “All the hot cocoa and marshmallows, and the snowman we made.”
“Yeah… And remember how I happy I was when we found that little sauna?”
Sweden nodded. “Well, our borders are a bit fuzzy at times.”
“I know, but I kinda like that, Sve. It makes me feel like I’m always home.”
“Me too. So when we get back, I’ll call and make arrangements for it.”
“Thanks, Sve…”
“You’re welcome.” Reaching out, Sweden took Finland’s gloved hand in his and kissed it.
Playfully pulling his hand away, Finland skated away from him. He laughed when the taller country caught him. He loved the feeling of Sweden strong arms around him as they glided across the smooth surface of the lake.
Sweden loved having his beloved in his arms. As much fun as it was to go outside in the brief winter sun, he would much rather be inside with his wife, sitting by fire and drinking cocoa. That led to other thoughts of a more naughty nature and he missed a slight rut in the ice. It was all they needed to go down in a tangled heap as they tried to regain their balance. “Are you alright, my wife?” Sweden peered into his beloved face.
“Yeah… My butt’s a bit sore, but I’ll live, Sve.” Finland chuckled as he took his beloved’s face in his hands. Leaning in, he kissed him.
“Good…” Sweden murmured against his lips. Breaking the kiss, Sweden quickly got to his feet, before helping Finland up. “I think we’ve had enough for one.”
“Yeah… It feels colder and it looks like the sun’ll be setting soon. Why don’t we go home and sit by the fire, Sve?”
“Okay, but first, I want to call the hotel.”
Finland nodded as he climbed onto the bank, Sweden close on his heels. They made their way over to the log bench and took of their skates. After putting on their boots, they made their way back to the warmth of their home…
