Rating: PG13 for mild suggestive dialogue
Summary: Prussia and Fritz stroll around the palace ground at Fritz’s beloved retreat…
They stood just outside San Souci, taking in the scenery and enjoying the warmth of the spring day. Frederick took a deep breath as he closed his eyes and let it out slowly. He felt relaxed and renewed here, far from the pressures of his court in Berlin. He turned to his beloved, Gilbert Beilschmidt, and smiled.
“What?” Prussia asked.
“I don’t know… The air smells so clean and I always feel so happy here.”
Prussia nodded; pleased his beloved’s spirits had lifted. “The gardens look like they’re growing nicely too.”
Frederick snorted in amusement. “You sound like a farmer, Gilbert.”
Prussia’s smiled melted into a smirk. “You should talk, Fritz,” he teased, wagging his finger at him. “I’m not the one who decided to plant potatoes and whatever possessed you to encourage the locals to steal them?”
Frederick shrugged. “I needed a cheap food source for the locals and stealing was a good way to get them interested in them.”
“Who knew they’d take to them like they did.”
“Yeah…” Frederick agreed. “So, shall we go relax inside or stroll around the gardens?”
“Hmmm…” Prussia thought it over. “Curling up with a book is nice, curling up with you is even better, but I get the feeling you want to walk around a bit.”
“My arsch is sore from sitting in the saddle.” Frederick headed down the stairs between the terraced gardens.
Prussia could not help laughing as he followed. “Are you sure it’s from that?” he waggled his eyebrows.
“I’m sure that had something to do with it too.” Frederick paused to look at the fig trees.
Prussia snorted. “You know those things feel like balls.”
“Only you would think that.”
“Yeah?”
Frederick nodded as they made their way to the Great Fountain and the gardens beyond …
