“Liet! Oh Liet! Like where are you?” Poland called out. “I want to show what I got today while I was out shopping!”
Lithuania sighed. He was busy cleaning Russia’s house, however, if he did not stop and go look, he would never get anything done in the end. “I’m coming,” he said as he stuck his head out the window. Without waiting for a reply, he pulled it back in and hurried over to the front door to let his best friend in.
“Like what took you so long?”
Lithuania blinked. “Poland, it couldn’t have me more than a few minutes to get here,” he said, feeling more and more like a fool as the minutes ticked by.
“Oh…” Poland also blinked. “So like umm… wanna see what I got?”
“Sure.”
Poland beamed at his friend. “Well, let’s see…” He rummaged through his bags. “They like had this promo-sale at Bath Time, so I like picked up the new shower gel and they like gave me a free rubber duckie and soap!”
“It’s cute.”
“He’s like got a crown, so he must be the king duck or something!” Poland giggled. “Hey, Liet, you wanna like come over and try them out with me?” He waggled his eyebrows.
“Uh…”
“Like please?” Poland made sad puppy eyes at his friend.
“I have to finish here first, Poland.” Lithuania rubbed tiredly at his forehead.
“Oh…”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s like okay. I’ll like see you later.” Poland pouted.
“I promise not to be too long, okay?”
“Fine,” Poland said with a toss of his head. “I’ll like wait here.” He sat down on the front steps and made himself comfortable.
Lithuania hurried back inside. He was nearly finished cleaning anyway and since Russia was at a meeting with America, he was free to go when he was finished. As much as he would have liked to stay and talk to Belarus, there were times when friends came first. Besides, hanging out with Poland was always fun. As he packed up the cleaning supplies, Lithuania remembered the time they went to visit America and he took them to see the Polish day parade. They had eaten kiełbasa and other regional goodies, and Lithuania remembered the day had ended with Poland trying to teach America how to polka to the delight of the crowd that had gathered to watch.
His chores finished, Lithuania hurried outside to his waiting friend.
“You like ready to go?”
Lithuania nodded and together, they made their way to Poland’s house. “Hey, Poland, do you remember the time we went to visit America?”
“Like yeah!” Poland laughed. “We like saw a parade and ate like tons of good food!”
“Yeah.” Lithuania smiled.
“We should like do that again!”
Lithuania nodded. “Or we could invite him here, he’s visiting Russia, so it would be easy for him to stop by.”
“Okay. So let’s like do it!”
“Uh…?” Lithuania blushed.
Poland rolled his eyes. “Not that! Like you’re so silly, Liet.”
“Yeah…”
