“Where are we going, Sesshomaru-sama?” Rin looked up at her guardian youkai and smiled. She really did not care where they went, but she still like asking since it always made Jaken-sama angry. Besides, she knew the little toad youkai did not mean it. It was just that he was such a devoted vassal, that it irritated him to no end whenever she failed to show their master the proper respect Jaken-sama felt he was due.
Sesshomaru looked over his shoulder at Jaken and gave him a look that quelled his outburst, before gazing down at his human charge. “There,” he said, returning his attention to the direction they were traveling in.
“Oh… Rin-chan was wondering because Rin-chan is cold and tired.” She gave his back the most pitiful expression she could muster. Rin really was cold and tired, not to mention hungry, but she figured a short rest was better than nothing. “Is it okay if Sesshomaru-sama stops for a while so Rin-chan can rest? Please?”
Sesshomaru stopped and turned to face Rin. His expression briefly softening, he said, “Will that tree do?”
Rin’s face lit up. “Yes! Thank you, Sesshomaru-sama! Rin-chan is hungry too…” Minutes later, she was curled up in Mokomoko-sama, sleeping soundly, while Sesshomaru pondered on how she wormed her way into his heart.
