Denis was enjoying a cup of coffee and playing on his iPad, when he had a sudden burst of inspiration. He called out to his girlfriend Michelle, “Honey, can you grab the blanket off the bed, while I get the fairy lights out of the Christmas decorations box?”
“Whatever you say, Baby.” Michelle went to get the blanket off the bed. A few minutes later, she was in the downstairs studio, helping her boyfriend set up an autumn vignette. They spread the blanket on the large folding table Denis had set up, before heading outside to grab a few pinecones off the ground. After going back inside, they went upstairs to their apartment. While there, Michelle picked some dead leaves off the potted palm in the living room. She also picked some of the dried fruit from the potpourri. Denis grabbed a wooden tray from the kitchen, before heading back to his studio with Michelle.
Back in the studio, they set up Denis’ “vision.” He set the tray on the blanketed table and placed his half-drunk cup of coffee on it. Michelle moved it off to the side and added the pinecones. She placed dried palm leaves artfully around the tray, adding and removing them as the vignette began to take shape. While she dashed back upstairs to get some cinnamon sticks, Denis wove the fairy lights around the items on the tray.
Michelle returned with the cinnamon sticks as well as a candle and Denis’ iPad. She handed them to her boyfriend. Taking the iPad back, Michelle did a quick image search for something fall-like. Finding something she liked, she set it off to the side, while Denis set up his gear. She watched him take pictures from various angles, making small adjustments as needed to the items he was shooting. It only took a half hour for Denis to be sure he had everything he needed, before heading upstairs to process his photos.
Lunch had come and gone, when Denis finally got up from his computer. He walked over to his girlfriend, who had spent the time reading, and handed her his iPad. Michelle looked through the series of photos.
“This one’s my favorite,” she said, showing him an overhead shot of their fall vignette.
“Yeah?”
She nodded.
“It’s mine too.” Denis grinned. “Time to go post that one.” He took the iPad back and walked over to his computer. A few minutes later, that particular photo was uploaded to the sites where Denis liked to post what he called his “artsy shots.”
“Thanks, Honey!” Denis blew a kiss at Michelle.
She “caught the kiss” in one hand and lightly slapped it on her cheek, before sending one his way. “You’re welcome, Sweetie!” Marking her place in her book, she watched him head down to his studio, before getting up to go help him bring everything upstairs.
