I feel icky, but good...

Yesterday, I went upstate to Binghamton & got my Corona vaccine. I'm in the group that works in a school & deals with children. I was a nice, but long trip. I got to see snow, YAY! Saw a deer in the woods on the side of the road & despite getting there early (Dad was worried we'd get caught in a snow storm & be late), we went right & got everything done in like 20 minutes. We grabbed some Micky D's & headed home, with minimal traffic.


They had everything set up in a HUGE tent, Covid related questions, similar to what I fill out everyday for work, were asked, temps taken, went to the sign in desk, showed my ID, got sent to another desk where I filled out paperwork & was sent to a nurse. Talked to him for a few minutes, filled out an appointment card with vaccine batch number & time of shot on it, had a Doctor come over to ask about my asthma meds & got signed off on that, got injected, sat for 10 minutes (I know it's supposed to be 15, but I was feeling fine) & went home.


My arm started hurting around dinner time, took some Advils & today it feels better. This morning I feel sick. I have a slight temp(like a degree & a bit warmer) & I feel nauseous & my head hurts. I'll probably go to sleep in a bit. XD I would do it all over again just to be safe for myself & others, since I can't get Covid (well, in 10 days I'll be 50% immune & after the 2nd shot next month 95%) & won't pass it on to everyone I come in contact with. Yeah, it would have been nice to get it closer to home & my school is having sign ups for it, but places on the Island & City have run out & who knows when they'll get more? So all's good, even if I feel icky. :D


EDIT: I'm better now! YAY! :D

I'm so glad you were able to get the shot! (I worry) Sorry it was far to go and that you are sick, but so happy you were able to get the first shot.

I'm still trying to get my mom and aunt on the waiting list. Right now they are only accepting people on the waiting list that are over 75 and my mom is 73 and my aunt is 70, but L is slightly younger than both of them and found a second tier waiting list for people 70-74 somehow.

Thanks! I'm sorry your cousin got sick too. That doesn't make sense as you're a teacher. I just do childcare in a school, but I was able to get an appointment.

Thanks! (awe... *huggles* I worry about you too!) It really wasn't that bad a drive. I think it was like 3 hours each way, maybe a bit more? We got there like 2 hours early, but got taken in right away (it took about 20 minutes start to finish) & we we're back on the road after a brief stop to get food & a pit stop both ways, & was home by 4. Like no traffic at all close to home, which was great, so I really can't complain. I've been worse sick, & part of the problem could have been all the Advils I took for the headache. XD

Good luck! It's crazy as they didn't order enough & places near me ran out. Ask L where to find that list & hopefully you can get them added to it. If Trump ran the country like a business, then he must be a lousy businessman. We should NOT be running out of vaccines & we should be vaccinating tier 2 & 3, not 1a & b! I really hope your Mom & Aunty can get their shots soon & you too!

Thanks! I'm better now. It really was being sick for a day & I called in the next day at work, cuz I just couldn't deal with the thought of all those lil ones calling my name. So I pretended I was sick Sunday night through Monday night. XD

Every state is different and dumb AF. PA, OH, FL still can't even get it to 8o year olds let alone someone younger. Maybe just maybe I'll hear back from the health dept. I'm not holding my breath

Im proud that you got yourshot and you feel better! Im scared to get mine. But im on the list where im the last to Receive it. I wish my sister could, she has asthma and i worry about her. Good job you tho! I hooe that you and your family are well! Stay safe!!!

Thanks! So is my family, but not much we can do about it, ne? Just be safe & stay well! I wish she could too! Don't be scared! It hurts no worse than any other shot, & not everyone gets sick from it. It's totally F***ed up as they say. I heard the other day on the news they're opening up Citifield as things went well at Yankee Stadium, so more peeps can get vaccinated in the area. I also heard they've added food service workers & smokers to the list of those who are eligible for a vaccine. It sounds like they're trying, but they really need to get more vaccines ordered & made.
