some random art

I was going through my Shichinintai folder for some inspiration for "Deep" & found it too. Go me! ;p

But I also found an old pic I did of Sedako. She appears from time to time in my fics, usually in one of Sui's memories. She's his late wife. ;p And she got be in couple of fics. Anyways, I drew her for my old writing partner Vega-chan, as she "invented" her. Anyways, I thought I'd share her with you...

Wow, this is very beautifully done! What do you use to create your art?

*blushes* Thanks! I simply painted over a sketch I did in photoshop. Her obi was a pattern I found for a backgroubnd, I think... or it may have been fabric. I did it like 2 years ago, so I forget where i found it. Same with the butterflies on her kimono. They're from a free brush set. And I lost so manuy of my brushes, so i don't think i have them any more. *sighs*

*pats back supportively*

Hopefully you can find some more nice (free) brushes.

*huggles* It was probably a good thing, as I've found other good onese since then. ;p

I found a really good site with them.

*tilts head in curiousity*

Found? Where to?

Thanks... now I get to see if I can somehow make them work in GIMP :/

[identity profile] kiramaru7.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 02:20 am (UTC)(link)

Supposedly there is a way to convert photoshop brushes into gimp's format (found here (http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/tutorial-How-To-Convert-Photoshop-Brushes-4349-1.html)) but it requires being logged into windows, so I still have to: copy the files onto a flash drive; install gimp on my windows partition; hope I don't need photoshop installed; go through the steps at the website; copy the newly converted brushes back onto the flash drive; reboot back into linux; hope to gods the brushes work...

too much trouble for me at the moment. I'll give it a try some time in the next couple of months when I have an hour to kill and nothing else to do in that hour...

O.o Really? It doesn't sound worth the trouble to me. Maybe you can find some brushes that'll work with gimp. ;p

[identity profile] peachmomoko.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah... I think I'm going to download some of the 1400 brushes for GIMP from here (http://www.techzilo.com/gimp-brushes/)... w00t! Less hassle!

so... turns out those instructions were for GIMP 2.2. I'm running GIMP 2.4 and all I need to do is place the extracted brush file and store it in GIMP's brush folder. Easy-peasy! (thank goodness I found out _before_ I spent an hour of my time 'converting' things)

YAY! Don't you just love it when things turn super easy?

[identity profile] peachmomoko.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
*does happy dance*

I'm testing out my new brushes right now! They're super sweet and will make banner-making even more fun!

Yeah?! That's soo cool!! I cna't wait to see what you do with them! :D

I love your style. It's reminiscent of old Japanese art: The way you form your lines and the coloring and such. This one is definitely gorgeous.

Thanks! I LOVE old Japanese & Chinese art! *blushes* tahnks! As I look at it though, I can see sooo many places where I could do better. ^^;
