For Kiki-chan…
Delicate was not a word she would have used to describe one of the infamous Shichinintai, but watching the man frantically washing his hands, Kikyou found it suited him. She moved with a grace that she had when alive and was by his side before he knew it. Setting her basket of herbs aside, she gently took his hands from the water. Kikyou noticed the skin was horribly reddened. Undead like her, she wondered if they hurt or if he was even capable of feeling pain.
Suikotsu looked at her with such emotional turmoil in his eyes that Kikyou resolved to do whatever she could to ease his troubled soul. She smiled reassuringly at him while she patted his hands dry with the hem of her sleeve. “There…” she soothed.
“Please, Miko-sama, you’ll get yourself covered in blood if you do that,” Suikotsu said.
“It’s okay, and besides, there’s no blood on your hands, Suikostu-sama,” Kikyou said softly. She held his hands up for him to see.
Suikotsu whimpered, the red skin of his palms looked like blood and he tried pulling them away from her. He was in the grip of the madness that always swept over him at the sight of blood and he wanted nothing more than to wash it away. Unfortunately, the pretty miko kept insisting his hands were clean.
“Sssh…” Kikyou soothed. “Let me heal them for you.”
“You can do that…?”
“Yes,” she calmly replied. Taking one of the herbs from her basket, she lightly wiped it across his palms as she softly chanted a little prayer for his well being. “Better?”
“Yes… Thank you, Miko-sama.”
“You’re welcome.” Kikyou smiled. “Come, let’s go, before the children come looking for us.”
“Okay…”
They got up, Suikotsu taking her basket, and headed back towards the village…
