Summary: Soma and Agni spend the morning in the peacock pavilion…

They sat on the floor in the peacock pavilion. Soma played a folksong on his veena, while Agni beat out an accompanying rhythm on a pair of drums. The two of them sang along, with Agni harmonizing. The song finished, Soma said, as he dragged the back of his hand across his brow, “It’s still early morning and already it starting to get warm.” He sighed. “I hope this doesn’t mean the monsoons are going to be early.” He set his veena aside.
“I know, but I don’t think we’ll get more than an afternoon shower if anything, my prince. It’s still too early to be thinking about the summer monsoons.”
“Good, cuz I hate them.” Soma put his hands behind himself and leaned back, stretching.
“Me too, but if I remember correctly, you didn’t seem too upset by the winter ones,” Agni teased.
Soma laughed. “That’s cuz we spent the time sharing kama.”
“True… We could share kama now if you’d like, my prince.”
“Yeah… but it’s too hot,” Soma whined.
Before Agni could reply, there was a loud peal of thunder followed by the soft sound of rain falling. The two of them exchanged glances.
“It would seem, my prince, that the gods heard you and Lord Indra took pity on you and sent the rains.”
“I think you’re right, Agni.” Soma scrambled to his feet. He hurried over to the window-like opening and looked out. Sticking his hand outside, the rain pelted his palm. Looking over his shoulder at his beloved khansama, he said, “I do feel cooler.”
“See?” Agni got to stand behind him. Looking over Soma’s shoulder, he wrapped his arms around the prince.
“Yeah…” Soma said. He leaned back against him as they stood there, watching the rain fall…
