Title: Dinner for Two
Fandom: Hetalia
Author: kira
Words: 298
Rating: PG 13
Summary: Germany and Italy make dinner…
Warnings: none
Germany kneaded the dough for ten minutes, before covering it with a towel and leaving it on the counter to rise. Tonight, he and his little buddy Italy were going to make a pizza for dinner. Germany was to make the crust, while Italy made the sauce, and together they would cheese their creation before popping it in the oven. He was eager to try the new food as Italy was always raving about it.
In a few hours the dough was ready to be made into a crust. Germany sprinkled some flour onto the counter. He dusted his fingers with more flour and under Italy’s guidance; he attempted to stretch the dough in the traditional manner. It took him exactly twenty-three times to get the dough spinning properly on his hands, before he attempted to toss it into the air. But toss it he did and he even managed to catch it on his fists properly. He was happy his little buddy was impressed with his pizza tossing skills.
After Germany set the crust on a pizza paddle, Italy covered it with the tomato sauce he made earlier. Together, they sprinkled it with cheese and on half of it; Italy added some sliced leftover German sausage to it. When they were done, Italy popped it in the oven. He poured his best friend Germany a glass of red wine and they sat there, toasting their efforts while it cooked in the oven.
A few minutes later, their meal was ready. Italy took it out of the oven and set it on the counter. Germany had the honor of cutting it into slices and they each helped themselves. Both were surprised by how good it was and they vowed over several glasses of wine to make it again…

Summary: Italy makes Germany’s favorite dish…
Warnings: none
Germany woke up to a mouthwatering smell. He took a deep breath as he sat up. If he was not mistaken, someone was frying some sausages. Getting up off the sofa, he followed the smell.
Walking into the kitchen, he felt the color rise in his cheeks at the sight of his little buddy, Italy, cooking amid a scene of destruction. Germany also felt his blood pressure skyrocketing at the mess, but he was also touched by the gesture.
“Aaah… Germany! Look! I made some bratwurst for you!” Italy beamed. “And potatoes!”
“Yeah…” He found himself smiling, even though the stove was covered in grease splatters. Germany sighed softly as his little handed him a plate of food.
“There’s beer in the fridge,” Italy said. “Austria used to make food like this when I was little. I can’t believe I remembered how to make it!” He beamed.
Germany nodded. He set his plate down on the table and went to get a couple of beers from the fridge. Whenever Italy made dinner, it was always some pasta dish, not that they were bad as a few even had sausages in them, but this… this was heaven. He sat at the table and was pleasantly surprised to see that Italy even had his favorite mustard. Taking a bite, Germany smiled as he chewed.
“You like it?”
“Yeah. It’s very good, Italy.”
“Thanks.” He blushed.
“You’re welcome.” Germany finished his bratwurst, trying to ignore his pang of jealousy over Austria. If anyone was going to teach Italy how to cook for him, it should him and not that prissy old fool. Germany sipped his beer as an idea suddenly popped in his head. He would teach his little buddy how to make his other favorite meals, like Wiener schnitzel and sauerbraten…

Words: 300

Summary: Germany wishes his brother, Prussia, would go away and leave him alone
Warnings: none
Germany felt his blood pressure skyrocketing. This time it was his idiot brother, Prussia, who was getting a rise out of him with his antics. Attacking his vital regions indeed!
Prussia draped himself over his little brother’s back, his arms around his neck in a loose hug. Since it painfully obvious to everyone except his brother and Italy how much he liked him, he whispered sweet Italian nothings in Germany’s ear. “Pasta… cappuccino… amore… Ferrari…”
Germany stiffened. Keeping his voice low and deadly, he said, “You forgot ‘arrivederci.’”
“I did?” Prussia blinked. How could his little brother, who not as awesome as he, know more Italian than he did? “Are you sure that’s Italian?” He let go of his brother and stood next to him. Prussia half leaned against, half sat on his desk.
“Very sure, now go! I’m busy!” Germany glared at him.
“I’m hurt, kleiner Bruder!” Prussia tried to look cute and adorable like Italy and failed miserably. “I’m just trying to cheer you up.” Trying a different tack, he narrowed his eyes and said, “Or are you jealous of my awesomeness?”
Germany faced palmed. “No. I just have work to do, which is why I told Italy to go visit his brother. And before you ask, he’ll be back in time to make dinner.” His expression softened. “He said he’s going to make me the Italian version of Wiener schnitzel. He called it ‘vitello parmigiano’ and it’s just a schniztie with tomato sauce and cheese on top.”
“Aaah… so he’s cooking for you, hunh?” Prussia leered at his brother.
“He’s a very good cook and before you get any ideas, go bother Hungary. Her mind’s as disgusting as yours.”
“I think I will.” Prussia grinned. “Ciao!”
Germany glared at his brother, while he beat a hasty retreat…

Summary: Germany takes his dogs for a walk…
Warnings: none
Author’s note: Thanks to Jen for figure out what kind of dogs Germany has. He appears to own a German Shepherd along with a pair of Hovawarts, which is a breed of German guard dog that looks like a Golden Retriever.
Germany took off his glasses, put down his book and rose to his feet. It was time to take the dogs out for a walk. He called to them, and they came running, his small pack eagerly looking forward to their outing. Aster, a fluffy hovawart, barked as if to hurry him up. Germany smiled as the dogs followed him to the door, where his coat was hung up. He put it on, and grabbing the leashes, he opened the door. The dogs bolted outside. “Sitzen!” he barked and the three immediately sat.
After closing the door, Germany headed towards the park, his pack following obediently behind him. They walked along, heading towards the park, where he had spent the morning training with Italy. When he entered the park, he was pleasantly surprised to see his little buddy training, if one could call it that. Still, it warmed his heart to see Italy trying so hard.
He waved as his dogs ran towards Italy and his little buddy waved back. Italy was one of the few people they liked and Germany trusted his dogs to look after his little buddy they way they did him. He thought it was cute Italy was going to play fetch with them until he realized the idiot had a grenade in his hand. “Italy! No!!” he shouted as his little buddy actually pulled the ring and tossed it much to his dogs delight. “Aster! Blackie! Berlitz! SITZEN!!”
Germany hit the ground as the grenade went off. He looked up as the dust settled and was relieved to see that not only had his dogs sat obediently, but Italy had as well. Muttering in German, Germany hurried over to them. He did not know whether to strangle Italy or hug him. He hugged him…

Summary: Germany finds Italy in bed with him… again.
Warnings: none
Author’s note: thanks to kat for the quote about the cow & vexed for sharing the quote…
Germany tried to roll over in bed. Something was snuggled up behind him and his sleep fogged brain thought it was his dog Berlitz, until he reached behind himself to touch something that was not … dog. “Was machst du den hier?” he muttered sleepily, thinking it was his idiot older brother playing some kind of sick prank on him.
“Germany…?” Italy murmured as he snaked an arm around him, holding him close.
He froze; his little buddy’s hand was dangerously close to what his older brother Prussia referred to as his vital regions. “Italy? What are you doing here?” he asked as he prayed Italy would not notice how a certain part of his anatomy rose to stand at attention. Germany totally blamed that on the pretty auburn haired fräulein he was dreaming about at the time. The fact that Italy’s breath was blowing hot and cold on his back, had nothing to do with it, or so he told himself.
“Ve… I couldn’t sleep, Germany…” Italy’s soft voice had a petulant whine to it.
“Oh… Now move over.” He waited until his little buddy moved away, before rolling onto his back. As soon as he was comfortable, Italy was back to snuggling against him and Germany noticed to his horror that the man was naked. He sighed softly.
“Tell me a story…”
“What?”
“I want a bed time story, please, Germany?”
“And then you’ll sleep?”
“Yeah…”
Germany left out a long suffering sigh. All he could think of was the news article he had read earlier about a cow that got lose. So he told him a story about it. “… and the cow suffered surprisingly little damage,” he ended with; pleased his little buddy had drifted off to sleep. Unfortunately, Germany found sleep now eluded him…

“Hey, kliener Bruder, Italy!” Prussia cried as he approached Germany and his little buddy, who were in the kitchen, cleaning up the remains of their lunch.
“Ciao, Prussia!” Italy waved.
Germany scowled. Why did his idiot brother always have to butt in where he did not belong?
“I, in my infinite awesomeness, have discovered the perfect drink for you two.” Prussia grinned as he held up a couple of bottles of beer in one hand and a can of tomato juice in the other. “Go be a good boy and get me some glasses. Wait ‘til you taste this, Italy! It’s great!”
“Yeah? Hurry, Germany!”
Germany rolled his eyes as he did their bidding. He returned a few minutes later with three steins. “Here,” he said as he handed over the mugs. As much as he was loathed to admit it, his curiosity was piqued. Still, he had his misgivings concerning his older brother and this time was no different.
Prussia opened the can of tomato juice and poured about two fingers worth into each stein. He also added a pinch of salt, pouring the beer on top. “Take one,” he said as he picked up his stein and drank. “It’s called ‘red beer.’”
Italy picked up his mug and drank. “That’s good, Prussia!” He drank more, the color rising in his cheeks, as he downed the red beer.
“Easy!” Germany cautioned. He drank from his own stein and was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. Finishing it, he asked, “Any more?”
“Aaah… kliener Bruder! I knew you’d like it!” Prussia grinned.
“It’s really good!” Italy said.
Germany nodded. “It’s amazing you actually did something useful for once.”
Prussia looked surprised, although, he didn’t know if was from the praise or the smile that tugged at his brother’s lips…

Germany knelt so that Italy could get on his back. Rising to his feet, he began walking in the direction of home. Since Italy had done such a great job this time with his training, to the point of being dead tired, Germany felt carrying him home was the least he could do. And as he walked, he was very conscious of his little buddy’s presence.
“Germany? Remember the boy I told you about? The one that I said I loved?” Italy said softly. Being carried reminded him of when he was younger and that got him thinking, especially in light of Germany’s surprising, yet disastrous, proposal.
“Yeah…?”
“I remembered Holy Roman Empire… that was his name, had blond hair and blue eyes like you,” Italy said softly. “He was very nice and he was always helping me like you do.” He sighed. “I wonder what happened to him.”
“Who knows?” Germany said.
“Yeah… You know, you’ve never told me about when you were little.”
“There’s not much to tell…”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah… I don’t remember any of it.”
“Really?” Italy leaned his head against the back of Germany’s. “That’s so sad, Germany.”
Germany snorted. “It’s okay, it is what it is, Italy. I can’t change it.”
“You’re not upset?”
“No.” Germany thought about the pretty auburn haired little girl, who sometimes haunted his dreams. She was sweet, cute, and innocent, and was the only memory he had had of his childhood. He sighed softly.
“You sure?”
“Very sure.”
“Germany?”
“What?”
“Can we go to your house and have more of that Black Forest cake you made the other day?”
“Okay.” Germany smiled; relieved his little buddy had stopped asking about his childhood. If Italy wanted some Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte instead, he would happily make him a whole cake if he wanted…
