For Vexed…

“Holy Roma… Can you please help me?” Chibitalia asked. “I need to dust the top shelf, but I’m too little to reach it and I was wondering if you could pick me up and…” she trailed off, giving him her best cute and adorable look.

Holy Roman Empire looked up from the papers he was working on. He sighed softly as he thought Chibitalia was the cutest thing he had ever seen. He was very busy and normally would have shooed her away for bothering him, but the thought of putting his hands around her waist and lifting her up, had him acquiescing to her request. Besides, it was much better than reading some boring treaty.

“Okay, I’ll help you,” Holy Roman Empire said as he got and walked towards her.

“Grazie!” Chibitalia cried. Meeting him half way, she wrapped her arms around him and held him close.

Holy Roman Empire sighed softly as he tentatively put his arms around her. His cheeks heating up when he realized he was holding her far longer than was necessary, Holy Roman Empire stepped back. “Come, let’s get this over with as I have work to do.” He tried giving her his best stern, no-nonsense look, but it quickly morphed into a dopey grin when she smiled at him.

“Okay! Come!” she said, and taking his hand, she led him over to the bookshelves. “This one.” Chibitalia pointed to a bookcase that was about a head taller than the two of them.

Holy Roman Empire stood behind her and gently lifted her up as she squealed with delight. They made their way around the room, he picking her up whenever she needed it. After dusting the last shelf, he gently set her on her feet. “There, you’re finished now. You may go.”

“Grazie!” she said and standing on her tiptoes, Chibitalia kissed his cheek. Giggling at the look on his face, she added a giddy, “Ciao!” before leaving the room.

Holy Roman Empire stood there, holding the cheek she had just kissed and sighed. There was no way he could concentrate on his work now. Not that he minded as thoughts of Chibitalia danced in his head…
