Summary: Prussia lounged in bed, reading his diaries…
Prussia lounged in bed, reading his diaries. Some were about the day to day living, little stories about life with Russia; the story about the pickle shortage being one of his favorites. Others had a more apocalyptic flavor to them, like watching the Spanish influenza pandemic spread around the world, and the death it brought, killing about a third of the world’s population and being helpless to stop it.
He read another diary that focused on war in general. Prussia noted how alliances, which had seemed set in stone, often shifted like the wind. He flipped the pages, until he came across some entries dealing with his beloved Old Fritz, from battles won and lost, to being sent to America to help in his fight for independence. He felt a pang of sadness, when he spotted the entry about Crown Prince Frederick’s disastrous relationship with his good friend, Hans Hermann von Katte.
Prussia sighed as he picked up another diary and leafed through it. It was about his ‘childhood” days, when he was a Teutonic Knight. There were various skirmishes with Poland and Russia, and verbal battles with Hungary. He picked up another one, from when he was older and had matured into “Prussia,” featuring moments with his younger brother, Holy Roman Empire. Prussia fondly remembered spending time with him and the young maid, Chibitalia.
Picking up a random diary, Prussia read more. This one was about various world economies rising and falling, tax shelters, and more importantly, how well his brother, Germany, was doing as a world power. Prussia could not have been prouder of him. Closing it, he got up and stretched, before leaving the room in search of his brother. He found him hard at work, and grinning mischievously, he said, “Let’s go make history again, West!”
