Characters: America, England
Challenge: Challenge 18: Flag
Bonus Words: Game, Colors, War, End
Rating: PG 13 for drinking
Summary: America and England engage in series of silly drinking games in a local English pub…
For Kat, who mentioned Eddie Izzard’s “Do you have a Flag” routine, which inspired this fic…
And also for Angel, who loves this pairing…
“Do you have a flag?” England said as he quirked a shaggy brow in America’s direction. They were enjoying an afternoon at a local pub, drinking beer and playing silly drinking games to determine who would buy the next round.
America looked at him like he had three heads. “Dude, of course I have a flag! Red, white, and blue? Stars and stripes? Remember I went to war with you to get my independence so I could be my own country?”
England smirked. “Ever hear of Eddie Izzard?”
“Who?” America blinked.
England, tiring of their little game, let out a heavy sigh. “Never mind…”
“Uh, sure…” America blinked. “So that’s the end?”
“I guess so.”
“So who won?”
England paused as he had to think about it. “Ummm… I think I did.”
“Damn! I guess this round’s on me, hunh?”
“Yeah.”
America called over the barmaid with a wave of his hand. “Another round for us.”
She was about to ask what they had been drinking, when England spoke up. “Two pints of your best bitters.”
“Got it,” she said with a smile, before disappearing into the crowd of locals to get their order. She returned a few minutes later, setting their beers in front of them. America handed her some pound notes, after England told him what to give her. “Thanks, lads!” she said, before disappearing into the crowd again, while they drank their beer.
“Okay, new game!” American smirked. He was sure this would be a game he could easily win.
“Now what?” England resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
“Guess what color I’m thinking of!”
“No!”
“Why not?”
“Because I said no.” England picked up his pint and drank.
“Then I win!”
“If you say so…”
“I do!”
