Title: A Sunny Afternoon
Prompt: Peaceful
Fandom: Original
Characters: Bernd
Word count: 200
Rating: G
Summary: Bernd enjoys a peaceful afternoon…
Author’s Note: Thanks go out to my betas Kat for looking this over for me & Jen for giving it a first read.
Bernd lay back in the grass, his head pillowed on his folded arms. He breathed deeply, inhaling the scent of the flowers that dotted the meadow. His horse, Blitzkrieg, grazed nearby. The sounds of summer filled his ears; insects buzzing, birds chirping, the soft jangle of Blitzkrieg’s bridle as he tore at the grass and ate it.
The sun felt warm on his skin and he giggled. In his head he could hear his girlfriend, Amber, telling him to be sure he slathered on enough sunscreen or he would get a nasty burn. Towheaded and fair, he rarely went outside in the afternoon, preferring mornings and late afternoon to early evenings. Today was the first day of summer vacation as well as the first time in a long time that he did not have summer school and Bern decided that called for a celebration of sorts. So he saddled his horse and rode out to the meadow just after lunch.
Bern sat up. Hugging his knees, he watched Blitzkrieg for a few minutes. Sighing softly, Bernd stood up and headed over to his horse. He mounted the big black Friesian and galloped home, leaving the peace of the meadow behind.
