Title: The Tea Party
Prompt: Whimsical
Fandom: Original
Characters: Amber, Bernd, Fritz
Word count: 347
Rating: G
Summary: Amber watches her boyfriend and their son have a tea party…
Author’s Note: Thanks go out to my betas Kat for looking this over for me & Jen for giving it a first read.
Author’s Note 2: Please note that Amber belongs to Kat.
Amber peeked into her son’s room and laughed to herself. There was her boyfriend, dressed in a pink confection of a princess’ dress, having a tea party with their five year old son. Ever since the school Halloween party, Fritz was convinced his father was a fairy princess, since Bernd went dressed up as one. Amber supposed they were lucky Fritz did not think she was a zombie nurse as that’s what she went to the party as. She nearly laughed out loud at the mental image she got from that.
Bernd looked over at the door to his son’s room. Spotting Amber, he blushed, making himself blend into his hair and outfit. He felt better when she smiled at him. Focusing his attention back on Fritz, Bernd reach over and picked up the pink Hello Kitty tea pot. “Would you like more tea?”
Fritz nodded and held up his cup. Bernd poured some ice tea into the cup. He refilled his own tea cup, before setting it down. They drank their tea and munched on some of the cookies Bernd’s brother made. Their conversation shifted to “show and tell” from the merits of Onkel Didi’s cookies to Play-Doh ones, with both agreeing that Onkel Didi’s was the best.
Amber watched the two precious men in her life for several more minutes, before she turned to go. She was glad Bernd had a sense of whimsy equal to Fritz’s and the patience to sit there and indulge their child’s every whim. She did make a mental note though, to try and dissuade them both from Bernd showing up for Fritz’s turn at show and tell as a fairy princess. That was just too much whimsy for most people to handle at that school and it was better for everyone, if they kept it to themselves. As she walked away, Amber wondered if Fritz would like to bring the axolotls she got him that were like “Vati and Mutti” in their coloration. That way Bernd could still go to school with Fritz and any “controversy” should be minor.

Date: 2015-09-24 10:38 am (UTC)Axolotls - I had something similar as pets when I was a kid growing up in Florida. They got scooped out of the drainage ditches every couple of years and I rescued them from frying in the sun. My fish tank was crazy as a kid! :D Amber's such an awesome mom :D

I never had anything that exotic. I did have a tadpole that we let go when it became a frog at a local pond. XD My brother's 3rd grade class had axolotls as part of the class zoo. Awe... That's so nice of you to rescue them! I always had a tank full of guppies. XD That she is! :D
