Inuyasha looked around in wonder as Kagome babbled on, not that he could really hear her with the bandana on his head. Various houses in her neighborhood were decorated with fairy lights; something Kagome said was an American influence whatever the hell that was. All the hanyou knew was this was beautiful in the way cherry and plum trees were beautiful when they blossomed. If he had to describe it, he would have to say the stars fell down from the night sky and landed just about everywhere.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome said. “Are you okay?”
Inuyasha nodded.
“It’s pretty, isn’t it?” She smiled.
“Yeah.” But not as pretty as you… he thought.
“I thought you’d like it!”
Inuyasha felt his cheeks heating up and he growled, which made her laugh and his blush deepen. Shoving his hands into the arms of his fire rat robe, Inuyasha looked away and pouted. The pretty lights, however, caught his eyes and the beauty of them made it hard for him to remain angry.
“It’s okay to like pretty things, Inuyasha,” Kagome said softly as she tugged on his arm to get his attention.
“Yeah?” He reluctantly looked at her.
Kagome nodded. “Let’s go home.”
“Okay.”
