EDIT: I have a pic of me in that Gothic steampunky outfit & one of my sister in her fur-suit. She made the whole thing herself! Under the cut since this is long. XD (scroll down to see them)
I'm back & tired. I did have fun! I'm trying to decide whether to go back next year or try Anime Boston. XD When I do go, I'm bringing my latest costume; a Gothic steampunky Prussia. I just felt very girly in it, plus the boots I have to go with it are very comfy. ;p
If you go to any con & "Children Driving Robots" are there, go see them! They are snarkilicious, argue with each other & sometimes audience members, but it's all in good fun. They really are nice peeps. I was in the elevator with one of them & he couldn't apologize enough for the snarky remark I got when I thanked for such a fun panel. I knew the guy didn't mean when he said & I told him that. XD Vic Mignogna had this Star Trek panel that I went to & Let's say he made a better impression on me this time around. :D He & his friends (the nutters! <3) have gotten together & recreated the Enterprise sets, costumes, etc & have made some tribute shows. We got to see the latest one that was out & I swear it was just like watching the original show! I wish I wasn't so shy about telling him how much I liked it. XD CDR had like 3 panels I went to, one on Star Trek, one on Dr Who, & the other on 80's anime. ALL were AWESOME! I also went to a fun yaoi panel, it was mostly talking about the history of it, with a lot of good recs thrown in. :D I also went to a a panel about how the LGBT community was represented in anime & while it's mostly not good, the lesbian couple running it weren't judgemental, they simply pointed out what they had issues with & a lot of the time, even though a series had "issues" they stilled it as well as the gay character in it. It was really easy to get into bashing things, but they kept it light & positive. :D
Stuff I got, was some manga & candy for friends & a t-shirt with a tiger on it for me & some handmade earrings that were a bit steampunky (my sister got a ring there, but gave it to me as it didn't fit her right) & a petticoat. XD
Food was good. We at 1st night in the hotel, since it was RAINING (I've lived through 2 hurricanes & a possible tornado touch down & this was like Florida RAIN). Git a burger that they got wrong, but luckily I was able to peel off the the bacon (it was the more hammy like bacon stuff) & cheese. Fries were good, but $42 for 2 burgers (tip included) & 2 drinks, is A LOT. We ate the next day at thsi lil pizza place. Actually we got food & ate in our room since it was CROWDED. XD My Sicilian pizza was ice cold by the time I got to the room & awful. I think they didn't heat it up long enough. XD My sister's sandwich was good. We went back & just got regular slices. They were better & I was sorry I only got 1 instead of 2 as I was hungry later & wound up eating a bowl of cereal at 1 in the morning, cuz I had empty rumbly tummy. XD We brought cereal & milk & tea with us & water. XD
Lastly the room at the Marriott was awesome! When we got there we asked for 2 beds, but they didn't anymore rooms like that, so we had a king bed. Fear not, we were upgraded to a corner room! It was a short hall too, just 2 rooms aside from ours & we were close to the elevators & it was quiet. :D The room, besides space for a rollaway bed which we declined, had a mini fridge! :D No running around looking for ice. :D That was awesome just by itself. :D
(I need to see if I can swap out the plastic boning for steel in that corset so I can pull it in more. XD)
EDIT: While replying to a comment, I noticed you can't tell I'm wearing lace up boots. T.T

Date: 2016-04-04 03:04 am (UTC)I've been to anime boston. It's HUGE. So very huge. I'd like to go back though.
Yeah honestly LGBT and anime aren't very good and the yaoi stuff isn't particularly helping matters

Date: 2016-04-04 08:35 pm (UTC)Yeah? I wonder if it's ;ole Otakon. XD It looks like it'll be too expensive for us, but maybe one year (when we're richer), we'll meet up there? :D
*nods* Yeah... and that's sad. *sighs*

Date: 2016-04-04 08:37 pm (UTC)I'd love to go there, but after looking it up, it's very expensive. The rooms alone are twice what we just paid for a night in PA. T.T If that wasn't a factor, we'd probably go.

Date: 2016-04-05 09:10 pm (UTC)Gothy steampunk Prussia sounds fun. Have you ever gone to Anime Boston before?
"Children Driving Robots"? I've never hear of them. Are they cosplayers or comedy act or...? They sounds interesting at least.
I have my issues with Vic, but I MIGHT have gone to a Star Trek panel run by him like that.
The Yaoi and LGBT panels sound well done.
Wow. Those were some pricey burgers. At least the pizza was good the second time around.
Woohoo for hotel upgrades! Sounds like you had a good time. :D

Date: 2016-04-05 11:18 pm (UTC)Thanks! It was! :D No, I haven't. I've thought about going a few times though. It's just that it's very pricey, so we may end up back at Zenkaikon. XD
They're 3 guys who do con panels. Snarky & funny & all the panels I went to were enjoyable & interesting. :D
I do too, but he was very passionate about his love of Trek & I was curious & had nothing else to do. The shows he put together are really well done. We got to see the latest one he had up online.
They were. I got a few yaoi light novel from the yaoi panel.
Yeah. XD Which was good. :D I just have to remember to get regular slices. XD
Yuppers x2!! :D

Date: 2016-04-06 12:01 am (UTC)You're welcome. Ah. Yeah, price is a big thing to consider.
I see. As long as they are fun.
That's good.
Nice. Swag is awesome.

Date: 2016-04-06 12:44 am (UTC)Thanks! I just need to locate some & see how much I need of it. XD Since that corset is like 6x bigger than what I normally wear & I was told a corset should be 2 sizes smaller... I hope it works. XD

Date: 2016-04-06 12:54 am (UTC)Yeah... Going there is probably easier too & my sister has friends that go, but I can't see spending a $100 more a night for a room. Lux said there are cheaper hotels, but it's so much better staying in the con hotel. *has a thing for last might attendance at late night panels* XD
They were & I'm sorry I missed them the previous day. It was fun watching them get snarky with each other. :D They weren't as harsh on the audience.
Yeah & he made a better impression this time around. I didn't attend his VA panel though, so he could have been just bad as he was when I saw him originally. XD
Thanks! Yeah, it was kinda unexpected cuz as I was slipping in, this guy was slipping out & he told me I could have it. XD I wish I won the second book in the series they were giving out as prizes. XD But as far as free stuff goes, books are awesome! :D
XD

Date: 2016-04-06 06:26 am (UTC)Sorry you had rain, Florida can be a a bad bad thing or interesting huh?
Feeder band rain is icky drenching in spurts or when it rains in the front yard and not in the back yard? I like the second one better.

Date: 2016-04-07 12:26 am (UTC)This was in PA, but it did rain like Florida. XD And yet, we had times when it was clear. XD
That's what it must have been. I've never seen it rain like that. XD

Date: 2016-04-08 06:27 am (UTC)Yeah, I think I had to pay more than that per night after splitting room costs, but there wasn't a lot of choice and still being close to the con.
Cool.
Ah. That's true.
You're welcome. That's cool. Free books are always awesome.

Date: 2016-04-08 10:47 pm (UTC)WOW! There really isn't. & you'd think the hotels would be less greedy & give more of a discount, since they will sell out on those weekends.
:D
*nods*
Yeah!It was really nice of him, but I guess he was in the wrong place, so what was he going to do with something he probably wouldn't read. XD They really are! :D
