“Hey, Amber!! You’ve gotta hear this!!” Bernd called out. He was searching the internet for Christmas music and had come across a few favorites from his childhood, which he was saving onto his laptop.
“What?” Amber came into the kitchen with a basket of laundry. “I really don’t have time for your nonsense.”
Bernd made sad puppy eyes at her. “I just wanted you to hear this.” He clicked play.
Amber laughed as The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late) began. “I haven’t heard that since we were kids.”
“I know, right? I loved that song!”
Amber shook her head at him. “Enjoy!” she said, beating a hasty retreat, before the song got stuck in her head. Bad enough Bernd would be singing it and playing it all day long. She wondered whatever possessed her father-in-law all those years ago to buy that particular Christmas album featuring that song, but then again, he probably had no idea Bernd would become so enamored with it. She chuckled softly when she realized Wolfgang had probably heard that song a million times over when Bernd was little, until she realized she would now being hearing it over and over herself.
“Christmas, Christmas time is near… Time for toys and time for cheer…” She heard her husband singing along. Amber groaned. There would be no escaping the song now.
