I posted earlier about my poor parakeet being sick & not one person on my flist responded. I know it's only a bird, but he's my baby. The fact that no one seemed to care is even more upsetting than having a sick pet. Maybe this the push I need to leave here for good. I don't know...
Not that anyone cares, but my baby is a lot better than he was on Sunday. I nearly lost him, and spent the day anxiously looking after him, before being able to go the vet, along with another anxious day of caring for him, & it would have been nice to hear from someone that everything's going to be alright... but all I got was DEAD SILENCE. Thanks, flist!

I'm so sorry your poor feathered baby was feeling sick. I have not gotten to yesterday on my fl yet, so I haven't seen your original post. What was wrong with him? How did things go at the vet? The scary thing about birds is that they hide feeling ill, so by the time they show it outwardly they are usually very sick. Poor little beaker, I hope he feels better soon! It's always so stressful and scary when our feathered, finned, and furry babies are not feeling well.

Thanks! We have no idea what was wrong with him. He was so bad I thought about putting him down. The vet said we could try giving him sugar water & that was like a miracle cure! He's totally fine today. Sunday he wasn't eating or drinking, took him to the vet on Monday, gave him sugar water every 2 hours until he was eating & drinking on Tuesday. In fact, he's playing with his favorite toy as I type this. :D

I can't speak for the rest of your flist, but I can barely load lj and most other sites while on library internet. We've talked about that.

Also, since we had talked about Ban (and him doing better) both on chat and via email, I didn't think also telling you on lj was number one top priority since I had already sent you several well wishes on the other platforms. I'm very happy that Ban is doing even better than last time I talked to you.

LJ has been slow for a while now and most people don't check everyday, especially during the week. Many people on my flist only check on weekends.

I'm sorry it was upsetting for you, but I'm glad to hear Ban is doing better. You've had him for a long time.

I didn't mean you, since we talk all the time & I know how craptastic the library connection can be. And talking to you has been very helpful & made me feel better and it's very much appreciated.

As you know, you're not the only one on my flist, so where is everyone else? Why am I always the one to give, give, give & when I need to take, I'm made to feel like I'm being selfish?

Can understand that if my flst wan't posting new stuff every day. So you're telling me that I can post something everyday, but only read what's going on on the weekend? If that's so, maybe I am better off leaving here. (and DW)I've kinda lost interest in writing, rarely post anything aside from bday wishes & stories, so there's no point in staying. *sighs*

First and foremost, I am so sorry that I missed this due to not logging in. You have been very supportive to me over the years and the relationship goes both ways.

It's never "just" a bird. Pets are family. You mentioned that you took him to the vet. is there a diagnosis and treatment? Poor thing! What is his name? Is 11 years a long life for a parakeet?

They're my babies. I have a parakeet, Chicken Nuggets aka Ban, who's almost 11 & that's old for a parakeet. They usually die between 5 & 7 from cancer, but he seems to be healthy, if thin. But he was always like that. XD I also have a cockatiel named Gilbee, who's 4. He had been sick last year, but he was strong enough for the vet to figure out he had a chest cold & he had meds to take. Ban, he was lying flat out on his perch, very weak & not eating or drinking. I nursed him back to health with sugar water (50/50 mix) By Tuesday (he was sick Sunday, went to the vet on Monday)he was better. They told me once he was eating & drinking, he didn't need anymore sugar water. Ban also told me that, the last time I gave him some. XD So as for what was wrong with Ban, no one knows. The vet said he was sooo WEAK & fragile that any tests he could do to find out what was wrong would kill him. He could have been dehydrated, or low blood sugar from not eating. Thankfully, he's better & has been singing & playing with his favorite toy! :D

I am sorry your bird was/is sick. If I hadn't accidentally hit friends feed when I was looking for the DEW's theme I never would've seen your post. I only look at the 12group and the pretzel and I go directly to the coms. I am on your IM and you know you can poke me anytime.

Between my Hashi's flaring up the two emergency room visits and one hospitalization for mom, this is the first chance I've had to see this or reply. I hope you and yours are doing better.

I'm sorry to hear that. So that at least is good for now. What a pain in the arse! It's not like you're in the middle of NOWHERE, where your next door neighbor is like 3 states over in distance, so why can't they get a decent internet connection out there? That's like when my grandparents lived in Great Neck & no one could use their cell phones in their house as you couldn't get a signal unless you were outside in the middle of the street. XD Seriously. You've always had an issue with your internet & it really shouldn't matter if you live in a small town, big city, out in the bush, underwater, wherever a person can live, people now depend on the internet, so so making sure everyone that wants it, has it, should be a priority. Right?

Yeah? XD I have your parent's address; that's where I always send you a Christmas card. XD I'll take your word for it. XD It's crazy how there's cell towers everywhere, except in places where you need them. When I visited Death Valley, we needed a satellite phone in case we got stranded. Granted that's a desert & no one except for a bunch of critters lives there, but still, people do drive through it & cars do break down. Even more frustrating is living in a town, no matter how spread out the people are, they probably have a cell phone or two there, so why no service? Never mind being in an area with a ton of people & you still have no service. XD My poor tired brain can't seem to grasp that. XD And why no one is doing anything about it. XD

That's really scary! I've seen cell towers disguised as trees, so why not do that on a hiking trail? It makes sense since peeps can get hurt while hiking or lost. Think how much easier it would be to find someone if they can call & say, "I'm lost." XD

*huggles & glomps* It's okay, Kat. He's all better now, except for a lil bit of iffiness, that some sugar water fixed this morning. I honestly think it was just the heat that was getting to him. We've had another heat wave & I always turn the air off when I leave for work. Today, I left it on & that along with the sugar water has perked him right up again. :D So your thoughts and prayers have definitely help! *MEGA thanks* <3 <3 <3

*MAJOR hugs back* I know it can be tempting, especially to save money, to turn off the AC when we're not home, but those of us with babies really need to be able to leave them on when we're not going to be there. That's one of the reasons why I'm so thankful for the new ACs we got this year. Their temperature control settings really help and save money so much.

*BOATLOADS of Huggles* Yup! It was silly to turn it off, but then again no one was home. The babies are in the den, which is ground level & doesn't have an ac. So while it's cooler than elsewhere, it did get hot. XD Not deadly hot, but there was no mistaking it was. Right now the ac's on upstairs in the dining room, but cools the kitchen & the living room (Dining room & living room are really one big room, kitchen is next to it, but not open to it, except for the door leading to the dining room.)so the air flows through the kitchen & down the stairs to the den, where me & my babies are. :D The ac works hard, but Dad said it's okay to run it, since it's going to cool off & go down to the 70's. Tonight Chicken Nuggets will stay in the tiny travel/hospital cage, but tomorrow when I come back from work & wake them up (at 9:30 in the morning) I'll let him back into his cage (which is a lot bigger).
