“Taah daah!” Bernd spread his arms wide; the left one higher than the right. He grinned at Amber.
She raised an eyebrow. “Oh-kay...” Amber had no idea what to make of the addition of two mugs of cocoa to the fall centerpiece on the dining room table.
“Happy Sweater Weather!” He beamed at her. Bernd turned, and picking up a wrapped package, he handed it to her.
“Uh, Happy Sweater Weather to you too and thanks.” Amber smiled as she took the gift from him. “But I think you’ve got things a little mixed up there. Didi’s birthday was last week and we already gave him his gift.” She chuckled.
Bernd rolled his eyes. “It’s for you. It’s a Sweater Weather present.”
“Oh...”
He nodded. “Open it.”
“But I didn’t get you anything.” Amber carefully unwrapped the present.
“It’s okay. It’s a new holiday I just invented.” Bernd reached for one of the mugs and sipped the cocoa.
“It’s pretty, thanks, Bernd!” Amber took the sweater out of the box and held it up. She laughed.
“What?” Bernd frowned.
“You have a whipped cream mustache.” Amber laughed.
Bernd did his best to lick it off. “All gone?”
“All gone.”
“Will you wear it today?”
“I was going to laze around in my flannels today,” Amber said.
“Oh… But you look so good in a sweater.”
He looked so upset and he had been good about letting her be so that she could hang out with Greta and Minky, that Amber nodded. “I suppose I could laze around tomorrow, seeing as today’s a holiday.”
“Yeah.” Bernd grinned.
“Let me go get changed and maybe we can go into town and have lunch.”
“Awesomeness!”
Amber shook her head at him, before kissing his cheek. “Wait here,” she said, and grabbing the other cup of cocoa, she left to go put on her sweater.
Bernd finished his cocoa while he waited.
“How do I look?”
“Awesome!”
