Didi walked into the kitchen and over to his husband. He kissed Tino’s cheek. “What’re you sketching?”
“That bowl of cherries. I know you got them to make a cherry pie, but they were so pretty, I couldn’t resist drawing them.”
“And eating them,” Didi teased.
Tino set down his sketchbook and pencil, and picked up the napkin full of cherry stems and pips. He got up and threw it away. “Sorry.”
Didi looked at the rough sketch. “You think you can finish it and tear it out of your sketchbook? I’d like to frame it.”
“Okay.”
Didi smiled. He made himself a cup of coffee and sat down to watch his husband draw. He chuckled softly when Tino reached for another cherry and ate it.
“Inspiration,” Tino smirked.
Didi laughed. “I see.” He sipped his coffee.
It did not take long for Tino to clean up his sketch and turn it into something he would be proud to have framed. He carefully removed it from his sketchbook and handed it to his husband. “Here you go.”
“Thanks, Tino; it’s lovely. I think a simple black frame with a black or grey mat would look nice and we can hang it in the kitchen.”
“You’re learning!!” Tino grinned. “Yes, a simple dark grey mat with a hint of a black frame is all you need!”
Didi also grinned. “Good. Maybe we can go to the craft store after lunch and find what we need.”
“Sounds like a plan to me,” Tino said as he picked up his art supplies to put them away.
“Good.” Didi finished his coffee. He loved his husband’s art and it hung all over their apartment. He also loved adding to his collection whenever he got the chance. Tino may have been a prolific artist, but most of his work hung in the gallery he worked at and was sold. So these little pieces were extra special to Didi and he treasured every single one of them.
