Sammy, who had been looking for his brother all over the school, finally found him. In a way he wished he had not found Dean as he brother looked upset, sitting in the bleachers by himself. He hurried over to him, taking the steps two at a time.

“Dean?”

“She gave me the big goodbye, Sammy.”

“Hunh?”

“The big goodbye. You know, adios muchacho,” Dean rambled on, hoping Sammy would catch on as it hurt too much to say it.

Sammy frowned. “She broke up with you?”

Dean nodded. “Yeah. She gave me some crap about her parents being upset she wasn’t dating an Asian boy.”

“I’m sorry, Dean”

Dean sighed and patted Sammy’s knee as the silence stretched between them. When he grinned, Sammy knew his brother would be fine as they got up to leave. Any lingering doubts were removed when Dean called out to the cheerleaders, who walked onto the field to practice.

“Hello, Ladies.” Dean smiled at them.

Sammy rolled his eyes. “Say ‘goodbye,’ Dean.”

“Sorry, Ladies, gotta go!”

“I thought you were upset about breaking up with your girlfriend?” Sammy frowned.

Dean shrugged. “You’ll understand one day, Sammy.”

“Yeah?”

Dean grinned. “Yeah, when you’re older.”
