To all my Friends who celebrate...
Apr. 3rd, 2026 02:55 pmHappy Passover and Easter! <3 <3 <3

I'm late on one and early on the other, but I'm leaving to go away on Monday and I have a million and one things left to do. *cries* And I really didn't want to forget to post things (again XD). I'll be gone for the next 2 weeks. I'll be touring Cape Town and going on safari in Madikwe! I'm sooo EXCITED!! It'll be fall there, but it's having a rebirth of summer, which is great!
When I get back, I have my micro-mini dollhouse to set up and paint. It's 2.5 x 2 inches, not including the roof, and it's got 6 rooms. I got furniture for it from ETSY and "wallpaper & flooring" from my sister. Thanks to some free gifts from the sellers, I got another bed so I can have 2 bedrooms, and when I ordered a dressers kit and a hutch for my kitchen, I got a lamp and 2 picture frames! And I got a resin bat skull which is really cool! I'm really glad they came today as my package got accidentally shipped to Arizona. o.O The seller was AWESOME and so was the person who sent back my stuff and everything came today! YAY! I LOVE dollhouses and I now have 3! The first one fits 1:24 scale furniture and was a kid's project house from Michael's. I bought 2 of them, painted them with different paint, used the furniture they came with (minus a couple of pieces). I then glued them together to make one house and furnished them with stuff I got from Michael's and amazon. It has 4 rooms: A living room, a bedroom on top, a kitchen, and a bathroom on top of that. For flooring, I used some scrapbook paper, my sister had, and bought a piece that looked like a wood floor. I cut the size I needed and my sister laminated it for me. For a bedroom rug, I got a white piece of felt that looks like Berber carpeting.
My other dollhouse is 1:48 scale and I got furniture for it from amazon as well as a dollhouse furniture site. I had originally bought this furniture, thinking it would fit in my Michael's house. The scale was way off. XD So I got the house from a kit I found online. I forget if it was ETSY or eBay. XD It's painted the same as my other house. I also added a piece of wood on the 2nd floor to make a bathroom for it, since the house was only 2 floors/rooms. So the downstairs is "open concept." The furniture is antique looking, so it got all wooden flooring.
My newest house is 1:144 scale and as I said before it's a tiny 2.5 w x 2 h x 1 d. I need to get some museum wax to "glue" down the furniture so I don't lose any of it. It'll also help with my 1:48 scale furniture staying put too. I have a tiny little Barbie to live in that house. My 1:24 scale house has an owl and a cat living in it. My smallest house has no one living there. XD
One day, I hope to either get this 1:24 scale house at Michael's, or a 1:12 scale dollhouse! 1:12 scale is the most common and it's the easiest to find furniture and stuff for. 1:12 is 1 inch equals 1 foot. 1:24 scale is half that and 1:48 is one quarter that. Barbie scale is 1:6 which is 1 inch equals 6 inches. It's also called play scale. 1:144 is microscale and a dollhouse of this size is a dollhouse for your dollhouse that's 1:12 scale! The furniture is hard to find, unless you search ETSY and it's very expensive. I got lucky in that the house was $10, the bathroom was $10 and the rest of the furniture was $18 not including shipping and I also bought 2 tiny kitchen chairs which were $3 each. It's an expensive hobby, but a fun one! :D
And one day, I'll get back into fish keeping, another expensive hobby to set up, but once you get going, it pretty much is just the cost of fish food. ;D

Date: 2026-04-22 05:18 pm (UTC)I had a great time, despite getting the flu like 4 days before it was time to go home. I'm actually still dealing with it. I even got the flu shot before I left too! Apparently, the strain the shot was for mutated and it really kicked ASS! I woke up one morning so sick, I spent 1/2 a day in bed, missed lunch (not that I felt like eating anything), with for me was a high fever/chills. Then the gastrointestinal issues hit. T.T I didn't eat anything other than toast, soup, and a boiled potato, after not eating ANYTHING other than juice. Poor chef was upset and came to talk to us. I assured him, it wasn't his food; I was just sick. The people at the lodge were so nice, it was like having extra Mommies looking after me. I honestly don't know how I managed the rest of game drives! (We had them morning and afternoon.) When I feel better, I'll post about the trip as it was AWESOME SAUCE and then some!!
Thanks! My dream is to one day get a 1 inch to 1 foot scale dollhouse! That's the standard scale, so getting furniture and stuff is easier. Although, I really enjoyed the hunt for 144 scale furniture and I have a mix of laser printed wood and 3D printer plastic. The tiny picture frame kit I got as a gift from the seller looks off scale in this house, so I'll use it elsewhere.

(The worst part about this year's flu, aside from the GI track issues, is the overwhelming FATIGUE!)

Date: 2026-04-26 07:02 am (UTC)I'm glad to hear your trip was great and look forward to hearing about it when you're feeling better. It sucks that you got so sick. I hope you feel better soon.
That would be really cool! At least you are having fun with it :)
*more huggles*
(That sounds awful and frustrating. Hope you are on the mend.)

Date: 2026-04-26 11:27 am (UTC)Thanks! It really was and so much happened! I really need to sit down later and write out what I remember. I am getting there, which is good. :D Thanks!
Yeah! I need to paint my ultra mini and glue the wallpaper down. I have museum wax in the amazon cart to "glue" the tiny pieces down too. They also need to be painted a bit so you can se some of the tiny details on them. I have a wardrobe that I'm planning on using as a hutch in the dinning room. To avoid any weirdness, I'm thinking of cutting and gluing tiny slivers of tinfoil as mirrors on the doors. I got a free gift of a floor lamp that I might use as a table lamp in my 1/4 scale dollhouse. I know the picture frames will work there.
