I drew this for my friend, Karina's bday... ;p

And I thought I would so you the steps I took to get it to look like it does. I started with a rough sketch, & after scanning it in I used photoshop to color it in. I do things on different leayer, & there are alos different laters of color within each layer, if that makes any sense. I also play with the opacity levels of the colors to get a subtle shading to it.

BTW the reason I have the WIP. is because I was iming my friend Jen at the time & I wanted to show her how it was coming along. ;p
EDIT: I went back & found the psd file & made the background layer, which is the pencil sketch & I set that to multiply, and let it show through so you cna see how I paint over things. This pic had 16 layers in total, not including the background layer. There's about 4 layers here showing that are onto of the background. So his skin tones are 1 layer, his purple fangs are another, lipstick another, and eyebrows & lashes are still another layer. Pretty much, any time change a color, I use a new layer. The only time I don't is when I need something to appear behind something else. So while most of hsi scarf is on one layer, the pary dangling behind him is on another layer that is below the layer with his kimono. Hopefully thta made sense. ^^;

And this si a mroe detailed background than I normally do too. The tree was drawn by hand, by the sakura are a quick-cheat. I used a brush for them. ;p Same with the butterfly.

Date: 2009-01-07 03:16 am (UTC)Yeah. I got here: http://angelic-trust.net/ They have tons of brushes so you'll have to look through it. And I think you need to sign up, but they're free, so it's not a big deal.
Cool!! I can't wait to see what you come up with! :D

Date: 2009-01-12 10:00 pm (UTC)He generally has three jobs: Defend the innocent from the occasional evil demon invasion, heal the sick with his magic, and be cute and cuddle. =:oD
The icon is his chibi form, with seven of his nine tails hidden; you can see his anthro nine-tailed form here (http://fenrisfox.livejournal.com/143398.html) and here (http://fenrisfox.livejournal.com/147477.html) (the second link is friends-only, for anyone else clicking on them).
