Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, & Biphobia, or IDAHO (or IDAHOT) for short. It was created as a day to "draw the attention of policymakers, opinion leaders, social movements, the public, and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people internationally." Currently, it is celebrated in over 130 countries (in 37 of which same-sex acts are still illegal) and in 2014, 1600 events were reported by 1280 organizations. According to their website, they see the day as a movement everyone can take part of, rather than one centralized movement.
